Rogers returning to Detroit?

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/3...rogers-reunion

Article makes some good points. If he can be had cheap, and still draft McCoy, suddenly the DL is a strength! If we could do that, maybe run a 3-4 with Rogers in the Middle, McCoy and Hill on the ends, move Avril to LB with Levy, Foote, and Peterson. and Sims rotating or get rid of Sims altogether.

Interesting. The deal maker will be money. Don't over pay him.

Hmmm, I would actually prefer us to take Berry. We would be solid at safety and LB, with a decent DT... the only issues then would be the outsides: DE's and CB's.

Overall though, the defense would be vastly improved.

When Rogers was injured this season, the Cleveland Browns' run defense improved. Furthermore, Rubin is seven years younger and around six million dollars cheaper.
Yeah...pass.
Fattty Mc Fat sack can stay in Cleveland because he doesn't deserve to come back.

If we draft a DT early, Id like to see us go after more DE help versus BFSR unless he is super cheap! You have to admit, he does plug up that middle!

You all know i would take him back, it would free them up to take Berry or McClain if Suh wasnt available.

The way this league is moving, I'd rather stay a 4-3 because it will be the least used front. Anyways, Rogers is a 4-3 DT and the Browns nose was more productive with him not in there.

I wonder is a Rogers for Peterson trade would get it done with Holmgren now in CLE... Both are up there in age, have big contracts and they could use a rush LB like we could use a DT...

This pretty much sums it up. Regardless of what you think of the guy, if he is not going to be spending time in prison, then the Lions should look into this. The Lions DTs are who? Hill, Jackson, Fluellen? Cohen? Come on, you'd really pass him up?

As someone else stated, I would try to grab Rogers for like a 3rd rounder. I'd still look at Suh or McCoy at the #2 (mainly because Rogers is 31) and I think having Suh/McCoy and Rogers, with Hill comin off the bench, would be such a dramatic improvement to the DL, that it would open up a lot of things for the LBs.

Like Sanders said, with the state of the DL and OL, no one should be disregarded.

Only reason I wouldn't do this move, is if the 'Skins cut Haynesworth to absorb the cap hit this year, and he wants to reunite with Schwartz.

And even THEN...I'd still consider grabbing Rogers, then drafting a guy like Berry or Okung.

JFAC!!! Haynesworth and Rogers in the middle??? That would be something. Drafting Okung would be the icing on the cake and would INSTANTLY bolster our defense and get them out of the shit hole they've been in for......ever.

That would be exciting.....therefore, it's not a realistic expectation.

Our big free agent signing or trade will be a KR or a RB (again)......WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

No way Haynesworth is released, Shaun Rogers is a realistic possibility, the issue that could be cropping up with Rogers is his age he should still be able to collapse a pocket but how much longer he can do it is questionable, at that point he will become what Grady Jackson is a one or two snap space eater.

If that KR or RB were Josh Cribbs it wouldnt be the end of the world.

No, that would be something. I was just commenting on what I fully expect to be another yawner of a free agency period.

Haynesworth is a bigger possibility of being released then you think. If Shannahan wants to get rid of him, the 'Skins could release (or trade) and take that cap hit this year, and be fine when a new CBA is dished out. He didn't exactly light the world on fire in DC, and his contract is way more then he deserves...There was also an article about how the scheme the 'Skins play didn't really suit him, like Rogers in a 3-4.

Not that I think Fat Albert will be released but Shanny has been rumored to want to run a 3-4 defense and Fat Albert has said he has absolutely no interest in playing in a 3-4. Sirius Radio had a big discussion about it about two weeks after Shanny got hired.

I know they are not gonna release him. They are not gonna give the man 40 million for 1 season of work and not get anything in return. A trade is a possibility but a flat out release is not gonna happen.

If you can get Rogers as a two year stop gap while Hill continues to grow and you draft McCoy (lets face it unless there is a trade of the #1 pick Suh wont b there at #2). With Hill and McCoy your D-Line is solid for several years. If they can re-sign Foote, keeping the LB core together, they can concentrate on other needs, like O-Line, in rds 2 and 3.

We also still need CB help, that might be a need in rd 2 and FA.

I still dont know if Suh #1 to the Rams is a foregone conclusion...If Bradford has a good combine, he could go #1, IMO...

Ok will give you that, just not sure if he is #1 worthy, if Suh is there the Lions get him before Goodell can walk away from the podium. Get Rogers, only if he is cheap. What about getting Graham in the 2nd round? Or would you go CB in 2nd?

Graham probably played his way into the first during the Senior Bowl. They're should be a couple corners there with looking at. Guys like Perrish Cox, Kyle Wilson, and Brandon Ghee could make it to 34.
