I was just looking at the salary cap numbers and it has to be White. He is gonna count about 5 million against the cap this year. That isn't gonna fly for his production. See yah....Call your boy Marinelli and see if he has work for you in Chicago.

I don't believe you at all with this.

I'm pretty sure you have at least a decent grasp of who is on the roster, and who (besides Sims) should be cut. Takin all of that into account, I don't believe you when you say the Lions are worse off then you though.

It was said that it is a big name, since this is the Lions the only one I can think of are CJ, Backus and Raiola. Anybody else I would not consider a big name. Or they are rookies.

LMAO!!! This is the reason I've never bothered even raising an eyebrow over "inside info".

What was really even the point of coming in and saying "Hey....I know something you don't know, but I can't tell you"??? LOL.

Not trying to be a dick about anything. LAW can be a pain in the ass, but he's had some good stuff in the past (and his source has been wrong in the past as well). Still, I don't really get the motive behind telling us that there may or may not be something going down, but then not providing any of the information.

If ya can't give info, it's better off left alone. Otherwise, it looks like playground shit.

For the record......if I knew who was going to win the Super Bowl next year, I wouldn't tell any of you saps.

Yes, more than one person has named the correct player.

Thought people would be interested in the fact that the Lions are strongly looking at using the uncapped year to dump a large salary (due diligence?)

That's fine, I'll keep it to myself next time. Just thought with the number of times we have gotten into conversations about the Lions considering doing something and our lack of knowledge on the fact if they even considered it, you of all people would enjoy this.

It is not one of the players mentioned, so it would not be a big name in your book.

That was the purpose behind sending Tech the name, so I can't come on here after any player is cut and claim that was the player.

From the sound of it, it was 90%, but I wasn't told if there was any kind of conditions (signing x, drafting y), so that is why I wrote it like I did.

WTF people!!!

I know LAW has in fact someone on the inside that works for the Lions.

LAW at times deserves his balls busted, but in this circumstance it is not the case. I do find it interesting (and not surprised) that the Lions are worried about dumping salary in an uncapped year. Not like I am surprised by this and this just goes to show some things are still the same with the team...assbackwards!

Lighten up folks! Don't shoot the messenger

Haha....you and I BOTH know that I wasn't anywhere in your thoughts when you posted this. LOL

Hey, do what ya want. Like I said, I've witnessed times where your "source" has been sound and other times when they weren't. I was just saying it seemed pointless to discuss it if you were bound to secrecy.

It's cool that you have a "source" and it's cool that your source can trust you with info. And I suppose your point about this topic providing conversation is a valid one that I did not think about. Still, I can't give much credibility to it all......and any conversation on this topic is just mere speculation.....until whatever may or may not be happening behind the scenes comes to fruition.

Well, getting back on topic.......I agree with Vic. If this is true and they are only going to use the uncapped season as an excuse to cut big contracts, regardless of whether or not those contracts are for good players....without also using the uncapped season as an opportunity to go get some "real" talent, then things are definitely still bass ackwards within the Ford run Detroit Lions organization.

Depends who it is
Cutting White is a good move and frees up roster space and cap money'

If it's Peterson...then yeah

I'd rather have someone come in and say 'Hey, the Lions are looking at cutting a big contract this offseason, but I can't tell you who.' Versus, are the Lions going to use the uncapped year correctly, and everyone always guessing (second guessing) management's decisions. This way when it DOES happen, it was something planned, and not, oh, well, we got this guy, so he can go. Or we need to make room for this guy, so we'll drop him. This is we're cutting him, end of story.

Now as to what Sanders said...

Some of the big name talent who would normally be a FA, and fix big holes for the Lions, are RFAs. So now it's a matter of the Lions watching what the tenders are that are given out.

For example...

Al Davis is kinda screwy in his old age. If he tender Kirk Morrison where if they let him walk, they get a 3rd round pick, guess where my 3rd round pick is going? Obviously the Raiders have the ability to match the offer. But I would totally give up a 3rd rounder for some of these RFAs. If the offer is matched, well, too bad, at least the effort was made.

I also think there is a limit as to how many RFAs you can try to sign from their original club, but not 100% sure.

Im going to say it's white. No way they cut foote AND Peterson, that would totally destroy any decency this defense did have... If they even had any at all.

White just makes the most sense.

What isn't there to complain about???

But I really wasn't complaining. I was just saying how juvenile it seemed to say that you know something, but couldn't tell.

C'mon.....we've all been in that situation (probably as a child) where someone says "I know something you don't know" and won't say what it is. What's the point???

However, I did miss the point LAW made about just generating some conversation. Hey....whatever it takes to provide a little entertainment to us neglected Lions fans.

I think it has more to do with not pissing his "source" off rather then playing a game of "Neener-neener" like school yard kids.
