WOW!!! I am extremely unimpressed by their efforts to address the CB position. James and Buchannon were permitted to walk and they sign two guys that are likely not much better, if any.

Fine, ST's needs help. That's a definite. Still, why let James and Buchannon go if you couldn't truly upgrade the position??? I know they were nothing special, but at least they had a year in the system under their belts. Now, we have Houston, who will likely draw similar scorn from the coaches as what Buchannon did.....and Wade who was a "BACKUP" in St. Louis??? C'mon!!!

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this is a little ridiculous.....

.....and I still wanna know why they're throwing caution to the wind in dealing with the CB position this way, but they refuse to do it with the under-achieving players on the O-line.

Double standards???

John Niyo, of The Detroit News, reports the Detroit Lions have signed unrestricted free-agent CB Jonathan Wade (Rams) to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ryan Clark was signed by the Steelers.
This Wade guy was the worst in the NFL with 77% of the passes thrown in his coverage were completed. He should fit in well here.

LMAO!!! Awesome upgrade!!!

I hope they're planning on making an offer to Lito Shepperd that he can't refuse.

I know it won't happen this year, but after this.....I expect to see a similar purging of the O-line. If they can do it with the CB position, they can do it with those turds.

Seems like he has physical tools, is young, maybe can be better in a Schwartz system, might do well if we have a better D-line, stats can be somewhat misleading.

I don't remember the Rams havin a stellar pass rush to help the CBs either.

No that the Lions do, but I think progress has been made.

I sure hope so, 'cuz our secondary looks weaker than I can ever remember at this point.

Signing Lito Shepperd would probably cause me to soil my shorts about now.

Our secondary is not good, but when the QB has no pressure in his face doesn't matter who you have back there.

Lito Sheppard hasnt played a complete season....EVER..

He is less than 200 lbs

He has 17 passes defended and 4 INTs in the past 3 seasons...

What is it exactly that you like about his Sanders, other than the big name?

It will help him poop inappropriately?

Lions are interested in Chester pitts OG Houston Texans. 3 other teams are also and pitts will decide who to go to once he looks at all offers. he'd prefer to stay in Houston but won't rule out leaving.

Yes!!! Because Felix's stupidity doesn't give me the shits enough. Haha.

I wouldn't call him a big name anymore, but he's head and shoulders better than what we had last year and DEFINITELY what we've got right now.

Also, two weeks into free agency and six weeks before the draft......I'm sure they're not done yet. They've done some real nice stuff, but...as usual...they've done some real dumb shit as well.

I don't see anyone giving me shit for giving the FO credit for the good shit. Get off my junk about my concern for the dumb shit.

I think they are done until the draft. After that, then they will try and see what they need. Maybe we end up with a CB @ 2... maybe not. There just isn't the quality of players out there in FA this year.

Happy they did not get Jones, it would have been a mistake getting the slow guy on the wrong side of 30 with our O-Line.

Yep.

And I think the Lions are done in FA in terms of 'big name' guys. I think they'll sign a QB at some point, and you'll see some guys signed who could end up being camp fodder.

If it's the guy I'm thinking of, he was listed as a Safety, but I could be wrong.

As for free agency, I hope they aren't done until the draft. There's still some guys out there that, at worse, could plug a hole for a year or two.

I guess I don't mind them leaning back a bit and seeing how things play out for the sake of spending money wisely, but I still say they should target a couple guys and offer up a decent contract to retain their services.

In a surprise move, the Denver Broncos have released starting linebacker Andra Davis.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post writes that releasing Davis may be the Broncos' most stunning transaction of the offseason. The 31-year-old Davis played in all 16 games in 2009, starting 13 at strongside inside linebacker, playing well against the run and also recording 3.5 sacks.

It's the second time in less than 24 hours that the Broncos have released a defensive starter, following the release of defensive end Kenny Peterson.

Bring em both in. If they're good enough Davis might be a way to pressure Peterson to renegotiate and Kenny Peterson might improve our DE depth.

Peterson is pretty old I think, I dunno how much you can really expect from him.

As for Davis, if he comes cheaper then Peterson, you might as well make the call.

As for Caleb Campbell, he could be camp fodder...Or he could be seen as a special teams guy. I think they're really trying to make an effort on special teams with the signings of Clark and Campbell.
